The History Sit-Down #3, with Amy McElroy

As you will know from previous posts (find out what it’s like to be a book judge HERE or listen to my previous History Sit-Down with fellow judge Annie Whitehead HERE), I recently attended the Historical Writers’ Association awards evening in London where, aside from eating cheese and drinking free wine, I was able to chat with fellow authors and judges.

One of those was the excellent Amy McElroy, a fellow Tudor historian who has in recent years found her spot in this world of writing. I managed to take her aside for a quick sit-down, where we discussed being a book judge, her work so far, and her plans for the future.

Welcome, once again, to THE HISTORY SIT-DOWN! Listen, comment, share, enjoy! And don’t forget to buy her work!

Amy McElroy

is a writer focusing on the Tudor era. Amy’s first book, Educating the Tudors, was published in January 2023, followed by Women’s Lives in the Tudor Era, published in February 2024.

Amy is currently working on her third book, Mary Tudor, Queen of France, due out in 2025, and is also in the process of her fourth book, based on Desiderius Erasmus.

Amy spends much of her time reading and researching. She publishes reviews on her blog and has been a guest on other blogs and podcasts, including Talking Tudors.
