Podcast Update
Some podcasts I've featured on lately chuntering on about all things Princes in the Tower, Tudors, and History
Hello everyone (or ‘Miaow, Miaow, Miaooooooooow’ in Vera).
Hope January is passing relatively peacefully. I, for one, cannot wait until February when the Six Nations rugby gets underway and I can get back to doing my favourite thing, sitting in a pub holding a pint watching Wales mess things up for another year. Oh, the joy.
In this article, I just want to give a quick update on some podcasts I’ve recently featured on, and of course the links.
HISTORY BUSINESS
The latest podcast drops TODAY and is perhaps a bit different from my usual guest features. I speak to the History Business podcast, a guide to being a ‘historian for hire’, which effectively most of us are. The pod is hosted by Lucy Jane Santos and Laura Fitzarchary and is a fascinating insight into what it means to be a historian in the modern age. Topics we cover include my unusual journey into history, imposter syndrome, the dynamic between academic historians and non-academic historians, and what it means to be a public historian.

NOT JUST THE TUDORS
For those who can never get enough of Princes in the Tower content, particularly when I’m facing off with my chief frenemy Matthew Lewis, we both recently featured on the esteemed Suzannah Lipscomb’s ‘Not Just the Tudors’ pod. As to be expected, we argue on the topic of Richard III, whether the princes were murdered, Warbeck and Simnel’s identities and the so-called ‘new evidence’, all expertly referred by one of the greatest Tudor historians we have. What’s not to like?

ROYALS, REBELS AND ROMANTICS
Meanwhile, on Carol Ann Lloyd’s ‘Royals, Rebels and Romantics’ pod in December, I also provided some ‘More Thoughts’ on the whole Princes in the Tower thing, and why I simply do not think that the case is anywhere near being considered closed. There are, it must be said, some gaping holes in the new evidence that must be discussed. We also discussed the role of the princes’ mother, Elizabeth Woodville.

HISTORY AFTER DARK
I also featured that same month in a wide-ranging discussion with the excitable trio over at ‘History After Dark’, Dr Kat Marchant, Philippa Brewell and Catherine Ibbotson. A discussion certainly not safe for work and not for the faint-hearted, it was a hugely insightful and educating deep-dive into the Princes in the Tower mystery and the new evidence.

So, plenty of content for you to pour over. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. As for Vera – well…business as usual for her.
New here and to this platform but hi Nathen! I've already listened to the Not just the Tudors podcast but im particularly interested in listening to the history business podcast. I always find it fascinating listening to how historians started off their journeys into history and how they work in their day to day life. Definitely going to check out the other episodes as well. Exciting stuff!
Nice! I’ve heard two of these and am excited to check out the newer two!
