An Interview with Amy Rodriguez (Fair Thee Well)
A chat about Henry VII across some Ciders during a storm
Shw mae pawb? How are you everyone?
First and foremost, don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about the Q&A and I will be filming that this week – it’s been quite busy recently with trekking around the country giving book talks to promote Son of Prophecy, plus other demands on my time, mainly the pub but overwhelmingly Vera. She is very needy. You’ll understand.
But here is a treat for you in the meantime – at the Gloucester History Festival, I had the great joy of meeting Amy Rodriguez, who runs the Fair Thee Well empire on Instagram, Substack and YouTube. Amy is a passionate champion of Henry VII which is how she first came to my attention, but she really knows her stuff. Not unlike myself more than a decade ago, sometimes when you learn things, you have a compulsion to share that knowledge with others, and Amy seeks to do that going forward, for which she deserves every success.
Anyway, in a rainy, stormy Gloucester, Amy popped over the pond and had the opportunity to sit down with me across some ciders and ask me a series of questions relating to my work, Henry VII, and whatever came to mind. I think this is an excellent interview (not because of me, OBVZ, but the production quality is incredible, shout out to the camera geezer TJ)
You can watch the video below, but also please give Amy a follow at the below links – as she starts churning out her content, she will become one of the THE must-follows for Henry VII and the early Tudors.
Anyway, here’s the interview - enjoy!
'Son of Prophecy: The Rise of Henry Tudor' is a 300-year history of one Welsh family. It tells how they emerged from the wilds of Gwynedd, navigated the murky and violent waters of Welsh-Anglo politics, and eventually found their way, almost improbably, onto the English throne. This story involves war, treason, escapes and love.
Fourteen years in the making, from defiant Welsh rebels to unlikely English kings, this is the story of the Tudors, but not how you know it.
